The true essence of Bollinger is found in the Special Cuvée. This wine is known as « non-vintage brut, » the traditional style of champagne, composed of blends of wines from different harvest years. The name of Bollinger’s iconic champagne, with its English spelling, encapsulates its entire history. It was Georges Bollinger’s British agent who, in 1911, named it « Special Cuvée, » as he felt the previously used expression did not suit a champagne of such subtlety. More than a century later, the name of Bollinger’s emblematic champagne still encapsulates its entire history.
